Job description

Your responsibilities

Many companies have AI pilots, but few deploy them safely. That is our goal: within Wavestone’s “AI, Data & Software Solutions” offering, Data Scientists, architects, and engineers in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, and Romania build production AI for regulated industries—from energy and automotive to banking, insurance, and the public sector. As an AI Architect, you will design agentic AI systems that are reliable, explainable, and operated with digital sovereignty on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, European cloud platforms, or on premises. Own end-to-end architecture for AI, data, and cloud solutions, from target vision and technology selection to production operations. Design GenAI, RAG, and Agentic AI architectures beyond chatbots: agents that orchestrate processes, use tools, and integrate with enterprise systems such as SAP or core systems through APIs, events, or standards such as MCP. Make informed model and platform choices—commercial or open-weight models, hyperscalers, European cloud, or on-premises—and transparently balance quality, cost, latency, privacy, and sovereignty. Define how AI stays reliable in production through evaluations, guardrails, observability, human-in-the-loop, and explainability, in line with the EU AI Act, GDPR, and industry requirements. Set standards for data and integration architecture, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD so solutions are deployed automatically, reproducibly, and maintainably. Make AI economically controllable by planning and optimizing token and infrastructure costs from the start. Conduct architecture and design reviews, coach development teams, and provide technical leadership to deliver projects successfully. Advise clients as a peer, shape solution concepts and proposals, and develop reusable assets and accelerators. Depending on level, take responsibility for client relationships and professional leadership of teams.

Your profile

Degree in Computer Science, business informatics, Data Science, mathematics, engineering, or a comparable field—or equivalent qualification through work experience. Several years of experience as a solution, cloud, or software architect, including proven experience architecting GenAI or Agentic AI solutions that reached production. Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and its AI services (e.g. Amazon Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI). Confident with LLM architecture patterns (RAG, tool use, multi-agent orchestration, MCP), evaluation, guardrails, and LLMOps. Experience with cloud-native architectures (containers, Kubernetes, event streaming), Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform/OpenTofu, AWS CDK, Bicep), and CI/CD. Good understanding of security, privacy, and governance in regulated environments. Able to explain complex technology clearly, persuade stakeholders from IT leadership to business teams, and develop teams. Fluent German (at least C1) and very good English, with willingness to travel to clients as projects require.

Additional strengths

Experience with sovereign AI setups: open-weight models (e.g. Mistral, Llama), self-hosting (e.g. vLLM), European cloud providers, or on-premises operations. Experience across multiple cloud platforms or hybrid environments. Practical knowledge of the EU AI Act or AI governance frameworks and regulated industries such as banking, insurance, energy, or public sector. Experience with document and information extraction use cases or integrating AI into SAP landscapes. Pre-sales, proposal development, or leading architecture and development teams (especially for Manager/Senior Manager roles). Architecture or AI certifications from a cloud or model provider.
