About the thesis project

Safety is a central part of all work in the energy industry. When working in and around electrical installations, careful risk assessments, compliance with safety procedures and access to the right information at the right time are required. At the same time, AI technology is developing rapidly and creating new opportunities to support employees in safety-critical work tasks.

The purpose of this thesis project is to investigate how an AI assistant can be used to strengthen risk management in hazardous work in electrical installations. The work can, for example, focus on how AI can support risk identification, access to relevant safety instructions, lessons learned, or decision support before planning and carrying out work.

The scope of the thesis project is designed in dialogue with the student based on area of interest and educational background. The result can range from a preliminary study and concept development to a prototype or method for how AI can contribute to a safer work environment.

You will:

Map processes and challenges linked to risk management in hazardous work.

Analyze how AI is used in safety, risk management and decision support in other industries.

Identify which data and information sources can support an AI-based solution.

Investigate opportunities, risks and limitations of AI in safety-critical environments.

Develop and evaluate a concept, proposed method or prototype for an AI assistant.

Develop recommendations for how AI can contribute to increased safety, improved risk awareness and more efficient work processes.
