Job description

Join your #OneTeam

Join the IT, Technology & Product department, which designs and develops the products, services, and infrastructure shaping OVHcloud's future. Lead the OpenStack & Compute squad within PU.OPCP Core, responsible for building OVHcloud's on-premises cloud platform. The platform is based on OpenStack and designed for autonomous, secure, sovereign deployment, including in disconnected environments. You will manage seven experienced engineers based in France and Germany (five Tech Leads and two SREs) in an automated environment using Ansible, Terraform, and GitOps, with an AI-oriented approach.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and support each team member's technical and professional growth, and oversee the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, development, and departure.
  • Deliver high-quality features aligned with the OPCP roadmap, working directly with the Product Manager.
  • Set local priorities and resolve technical decisions when Tech Leads disagree.
  • Oversee operational maintenance, including OpenStack upgrades, vulnerability management, and security hardening.
  • Organize the team's work (rituals, intake, and interruptions) to support focus and autonomy.
  • Coordinate and communicate across adjacent Platform, Security, and Hardware teams.
  • Spend 30–50% of your time on direct technical contributions such as design, infrastructure as code, code reviews, and investigations; promote AI-assisted engineering (LLMs, agents, spec-first) in team practices.

Your impact after six months

You will understand OPCP architecture, the OpenStack & Compute layer, and its interfaces with hardware, hypervisors, and the Kubernetes stack. You will have established the squad's organizational framework and strong working relationships with the Product Manager and Tech Leads. The team will be able to improve the existing platform while developing planned new features in parallel.

Your impact after one year

You will independently lead topics end to end. The squad will deliver its roadmap with a controlled balance between improvements and new features while strengthening security and keeping offerings up to date. AI-assisted engineering will be fully integrated into everyday team practices.

Required skills

  • Strong background in software development, SRE, or infrastructure deployment before moving into technical leadership.
  • Sufficient technical depth to arbitrate architecture decisions and contribute directly to cloud infrastructure (Linux, IaC, Ansible/Terraform, GitOps).
  • Knowledge of OpenStack or an equivalent cloud platform and the compute lifecycle, including bare metal and hypervisors.
  • Daily practice with AI-assisted engineering (LLMs, agents) and ability to share it with your team.
  • Fluent spoken and written English to manage a distributed team in France and Germany.
  • Proven technical-team management experience, including recruitment, people management, and day-to-day organization.
  • Knowledge of Agile methods and ability to adapt communication in an environment with significant cross-team dependencies.

A plus

  • Hands-on experience operating OpenStack in production.
  • Knowledge of SecNumCloud requirements or securing disconnected environments.
  • Kubernetes, container-image creation, and Go and/or Python development.
  • Willingness to join the team's on-call rotation.
